What this check does

This is the same free preview as the form on the NamedScan home page. It is an AI visibility checker for one question: when a customer asks ChatGPT for a business like yours, does it name you?

The check sends three customer style questions to ChatGPT with live web search. They are the kind of question a local customer asks, such as who to hire in your city. The questions do not include your business name. ChatGPT searches the web and writes a short answer. We record whether your business is named, and which business is named instead.

The estimated score runs from 0 to 100 and uses the same method as the full report:

  • Mention rate (40%): how often ChatGPT names your business across the questions we ask.
  • Position (20%): where you appear in the answer when you are named.
  • Share of voice (10%): your share of mentions against the top 5 competitors named.
  • Cited as a source (10%): how often your own website is cited.
  • AI search readiness (20%): how readable your website is for AI search, when it can be reached.

Because this check uses three questions, the score is an estimate. The full report asks 15. Bands: Low under 25, Emerging 25 to 49, Moderate 50 to 74, Strong 75 and above.

How to read the result

The result is a dated snapshot of those three answers. It is not a rank that ChatGPT publishes, and it is not a promise about the next answer.

  • Estimated score and band. Low is under 25, Emerging is 25 to 49, Moderate is 50 to 74, and Strong is 75 and above. A higher band means you were named more often, or more prominently, in this snapshot.
  • Named in X of 3. That is how many of the three answers included your business.
  • Named instead. The business listed here is the one ChatGPT named most often in this check, when another business stood out.

If the note by the form says today's free previews are all taken, the limit for the day has been reached. Come back tomorrow. On the $300 Done For You plan, the access key in the form runs a full scan instead of the free preview.
